Brief History

Born on July 5th 1966, Alex was the second of four children born to her parents John and Sara Eames. It became clear early on that both she and her eldest brother John Jr., more affectionately known as JJ took after their father, while younger siblings Stephanie and Drew took after Sara. Growing up in the Eames house the kids learned took look after themselves and each other, particularly after their father was fired from the NYPD for double-dipping.

After graduating from college, during which time she also tended bar to make some extra cash, Alex followed in her father’s footsteps and went into the police academy. While there she began a relationship with fellow cadet Joseph Dutton, the relationship continued even after they entered the force; which resulted in a marriage in early 1995. Later that same year Alex entered Vice and Joe Narcotics. They lived relatively happy (yet busy) lives for three years, until in ‘98 Joe was shot during a undercover stint; shortly after resulting in his death. To grieve, Alex dove into her work in Vice gaining a quick and often rock solid closure rate (as well as promotion.) She remained in Vice until ‘00 moving onto Major Case Squad, and a yet another promotion to Detective First Grade.

In the year following her move to Major Case (and a few partners) she was teamed up with an up and comer from Narcotics, Robert Goren. At first the pair didn’t seem to fit, but soon enough the rough edges of their partnership worked themselves out. The partnership, as odd as it sometimes seemed to their co-workers and superiors, remained relatively unscathed until ’03 when Alex volunteered to be a surrogate mother for her sister; who could not carry the child she so desired to full term herself. Alex gave birth to a happy and healthy seven pound, eight ounce baby boy named Wyatt later that year.

Things moved back into their usual ebb and flow between the pair until MCS was shaken in ’05 during a case. The resulting fallout revealed a letter, in which Alex had at one time wished to no longer be partnered with Goren and feared for his mental stability. However, unlike their partnership not everything survived the ordeal, Captain James Deakins later resigned and one detective transferred out. Under new management Alex went through probably the most trying ordeal yet in her life, being kidnapped by a serial killer in early ’06. Following the kidnapping she began seeing Dr. Elizabeth Olivet for the lasting physiological trauma. Just as things seemed to be returning to some semi-balance of normal, in ’07 Alex was forced to re-investigate her own husband’s murder -later finding out the man believed to have killed him had in fact not.

With the arrival of 2008, Alex has already seen one of; if not her most trying year at Major Case. For now she’s just hanging on and willing (as usual) to follow it wherever the path may lead her.

Alex Psych 101:

Coming from a “cop family” Alex learned at very young age, what others may spend their entire lives searching for –a strong sense of self. She knows who she is and despite her size carries the heart, wisdom and strength of someone twice her age. That’s not to say she’s without her faults, she has a sharp sarcastic wit which when paired with her sometimes stubborn personality; has on more than one occasion rubbed people the wrong way. Likewise, she has more than once stereotyped a suspect due to their past history either during the course of investigation or just in general.

However, despite these personal flaws and a few emotional blows over the years, she is overall a good person and very loyal to those around her.
